Immigration charges
Eight people were arrested Friday afternoon on alleged immigration charges, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department.
Police investigate assaults
The Grand Junction Police Department is investigating two sexual assaults reported Thursday.
One of the alleged sexual assaults occurred between a juvenile boy and a juvenile girl. The other alleged sexual assault occurred between a man and woman.
Because the investigations are ongoing, the Police Department would not release further information, Sgt. Dave Stassen said. He did say the sex assaults were not related.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
• More than $1,000 in bad checks were written to a business in the 100 block of North 22nd Court.
• A pellet gun was fired, injuring a cat, in the 1400 block of Bunting Avenue.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:
• A man reported seeing two men going through belongings in cars parked in his driveway in the 400 block of Chatfield Circle. No vehicle was damaged, but five boxes of cigarettes were stolen from one of the vehicles.
