Teen allegedly kicks, bites officers
David Coghill, 18, was arrested by the Grand Junction Street Crimes Unit after being contacted for suspicious activity at Motel 6. He is suspected of becoming combative with officers, assaulting one officer by kicking him and spitting on him, and assaulting another by biting him.

Suspected illegal immigrants arrested
Eleven suspected illegal immigrants were detained as a result of a traffic stop Wednesday morning along Interstate 70, the Colorado State Patrol said. Officers stopped a vehicle at mile marker 28 after a trooper witnessed it weaving. Suspecting that the one female and 10 males in the vehicle were in the country illegally, the responding trooper contacted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the eleven people were taken to the ICE office in Grand Junction, the CSP said.

Prescription fraud suspect booked
Tyler Moriarty, 24, 2108 Hodesa Way, was arrested Monday evening on suspicion of fraudulently trying to obtain drugs using a false prescription after officers contacted him in the area of Second Street and White Avenue. Moriarty also is suspected of giving police a false name, a felony offense.

Man says he was jumped, robbed
A man reportedly was robbed of items valued at less than $1,000 after he was approached by three unknown men near the underpass of Colorado Highway 340 and Crosby Avenue, according to the Grand Junction Police Department. About 8 p.m. Sunday, a man told authorities he was walking in the area when three men jumped him, causing minor injuries. No weapons were involved, said officer Cory Toms.

GJ park fight involves 20 juveniles
A juvenile was assaulted with a tire iron early Saturday during fight at Sherwood Park between two groups of juveniles, which caused more than $1,000 in damage to two vehicles, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.

Teen girls allegedly take joy ride
The Grand Junction Police Department is investigating a case in which two 15-year-old girls took a vehicle from the 800 block of Teller Avenue. The girls allegedly caused more than $500 in damages to the vehicle, police said.

$20,000 stolen from property
Someone stole more than $20,000 from a property at 2487 Industrial Blvd., according to the Grand Junction Police Department. The case is still under investigation. Officer T.J. Rix said cash, merchandise and office equipment were stolen.

Two accused of drug possession
Tammy Kautzsch, 35, 3208 Emerald Court, No. C, and Jason Lunk, 28, 3048 1/2 Wedgewood Ave., were arrested Friday morning on suspicion of drug possession after deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department contacted them in the 3200 block of Emerald Court. According to Sheriff’s Department reports, deputies were in the area to arrest Kautzsch on an active warrant.

Man leaves shop in a lather
Karl F. Maier, 43, was issued a summons on suspicion that he entered Cost Cutters, 569 32 Road, Wednesday afternoon and demanded shampoo. According to reports from the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department, Maier has “regularly” entered the business “yelling and disrupting business.” Deputies told Maier he will be arrested if he returns.

Investigators call fire an accident
Fire investigators have concluded that the Tuesday fire at Affordable Automotive was accidental. Personnel at the shop were removing a gas tank from a car when vapors from the tank mixed in the air of the shop and drifted to a pilot light on a gas furnace. The vapors ignited and caused a flash fire.
