• Michael D. Johnson, 58, Grand Junction, died April 30, 2008. Visitation will be at 8:30 a.m. today at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Services will follow at noon at the mortuary with burial at 1 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson was self employed.

Survivors include his wife, Bambi; one son, Chris of Clearwater, Fla.; three brothers, Gary Johnson of Florence, Ariz., and Rick Hard and Scott Hard, both of Cincinnati; four sisters, Patsy Schill, Louise Simonson, Vicki Franklin and Jackie Runtz, all of Cincinnati; and one grandchild.

Memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Cancer Society.

• Former Grand Junction resident, Elsie L. Mapel, 91, Baton Rouge, La., died May 6, 2008, in Baton Rouge. Services are pending.

Mrs. Mapel was a teacher at Mesa College.

Survivors include one son, Gary of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Judy Noble of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

• Patsy Mills, 73, Grand Junction, died May 5, 2008, at Mantey Heights. Services are pending.

Survivors include one son, Donald G. of Rock Springs, Wyo.; two daughters, Linda Ryser of Montrose and Patty Bennett of Grand Junction; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

• Jade Marrie Nolen, newborn, Grand Junction, died May 3, 2008, at St. Mary’s Hospital. Services are pending.

• Robert L. “Bob” Schmidt, 71, Montrose, died May 6, 2008, at his home. No services are planned.

Survivors include one brother, Dave of Delta; and one sister, Annie Ritthaler of Delta.
