For a small town festival that’s a bit out of the ordinary, Hotchkiss will sponsor the Fifth Annual Sheep Camp Stock Dog Trials today through Sunday.
The sheepdog trial competition starts at 7 a.m. and will continue to about 5 p.m. each day, but there will be lots of other activities, such as food booths and agricultural exhibits of sheepherder camps, said Keith Ulshafer, who is in charge of vendors.
Meanwhile, yard sales are planned all over town.
Kids under 12 can attend the trials for free.
Admission on Friday is $2, and the cost is $3 Saturday and Sunday. The trials will be west of the Delta County Fairgrounds. Follow the signs from Bridge Street, the main drag.
Also on Bridge Street, the Creamery Arts Center will display the winner and entries in the Sheepdog Trials Art Contest and host live music and refreshments on the grounds throughout the weekend.
