Smith endorses Doody for county
Former state Rep. Matt Smith of Grand Junction is endorsing Grand Junction City Councilman Jim Doody for Mesa County Commission.
Smith made his announcement this week while helping collect petition signatures for Doody, who needs 2,734 certified signatures by May 29 for his name to be placed on the Aug. 12 Republican primary ballot for the District 1 commissioner seat. Incumbent commissioner Craig Meis was placed on the ballot at the Republican’s county convention in February.
Smith said he supports Doody because of Doody’s stance on natural resources, his support of the Vietnam War Memorial in Fruita and his communication skills.
