Unitarian church showing film about coal

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 1022 Grand Ave., will show “The High Cost of Coal” at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, as part of its social justice film series. The film highlights the environmental impacts of mining and burning coal for energy. For information, call 257-0772.

Consecration Mass at memorial gardens

A Consecration Mass will take place at 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Grand Junction Memorial Gardens, 2970 North Ave. The gardens have designated an area of the cemetery to fill the need of Catholic burial rites. The service will be performed by Reverend Father Edmundo Valera PHD and Reverend Father Marco Salinas. All Catholics are welcome. Refreshments will follow. For information, call 243-3490.

Islamic Center to host weekly service

Autumn Tea with a barbershop quartet

The Redlands United Methodist Women’s Autumn Tea will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday. Entertainment will be provided by Close Harmony, a local barbershop quartet. For information, call 243-6168.

Free concert at convention center

Award winning recording artists Jan Garrett and JD Martin will perform at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 22 at the Two Rivers Center for Spiritual Living, 3150 Lakeside Drive. The concert is free and open to the public. For information, call 201-0989.

Church hosting pumpkin patch Sunday

Crossroads United Methodist Church, 599 30 Road, will have a pumpkin fest after worship services Sunday. The party will include beef brisket and homemade side dishes. There will be activities including a Bump ’n’ Jump, root beer garden and pumpkin patch. For information, call 242-0577.

Registration open for women’s retreat

The Women of the American Lutheran Church, 631 26 1/2 Road, will have a retreat at 6 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24. International speaker Penne Peterson-Sewall will be the guest speaker. Registration is $30 and includes meals. To attend only Saturday, cost is $20. Preregistration is required by Monday. Pumpkins for children at church service

Quilt show and rug sale in Palisade

Palisade Church of the Nazarene, 3595 Front St., will have a quilt show and Navajo rug sale to benefit cancer patients on the Navajo Indian Reservation from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24. Three children are among those being treated for cancer from the reservation in Nazlini, Ariz. For information, call 523-7494.

Meditation class today at Fairmount Hall

Our Precious Human Life, a meditation class with Buddhist teacher Mark Mindenhall, is from 1 to 2:30 p.m. today at Fairmount Hall, 2511 N. 12th St.

Canned food drive at Trinity Baptist

Trinity Baptist is having a canned food drive to benefit its food bank beginning Sunday, through Nov. 22.

The church hopes to collect 300 cans of food during the drive. The food bank is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays, at 2748 B 1/2 Road.
