Harvest Fest for children Saturday

Mesa State College Future Business Leaders of America Phi Beta Lambda will host a Harvest Fest for children from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the new classroom building, 1400 Houston Ave.

The event includes games, crafts and a costume contest with prizes from Chuck E. Cheese. The Society of Physics Students will take pumpkins that have been frozen with liquid nitrogen and drop them off the building as part of their smashing pumpkin event, which starts at 5 p.m.

Admission is $2 per person. Proceeds benefit Phi Beta Lamba.

The deadline is Nov. 13 to apply for cost-share for fall treatment of noxious weeds for Bookcliff, Mount Sopris and South Side Conservation District and Garfield County Vegetation Management.

North Avenue haunted house open

Frightmares Haunted House Inc. is open at 2650 North Ave., behind Partyland.

Cost for the haunted house is $10, with proceeds going to the Mesa State College Drama and Dance departments.

Hours are 6 to midnight today and Saturday.
