Car-seat checks Friday by appointment
The Mesa County Health Department will offer car-seat checks from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, by appointment only.
People should call and leave a message on the 24-hour child passenger safety line at 254-4112. Calls are returned daily and an appointment will be scheduled at that time.
A December event for car-seat fitting has been canceled. The January event will resume on a drop-in basis.
Friday is entry deadline for craft show
The application deadline is Friday for craft makers and artists to register for the Christmas Craft Show on Dec. 18-19, which is part of Fruita’s Hometown Christmas and Parade of Lights.

BLM training will close range Friday
The Bureau of Land Management rifle range will be closed from noon to 6 p.m. Friday because of law enforcement training.
Race will affect traffic in monument
Traffic on Rim Rock Drive will be restricted to one lane from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday during the Rim Rock Marathon on Colorado National Monument.
Women’s self-defense class Saturday
High Desert Martial Arts, at 560 S. Westgate, will have a women’s self-defense class at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Women will learn how to use pepper spray to defend themselves. Cost is $10 if participants choose to purchase the inert pepper spray and stay for the full 90-minute class. It is free if participants stay only one hour with no spray.

Moab River Rendezvous is Nov. 14-15
MOAB, Utah — The Moab River Rendezvous, a celebration of rivers, conservation, history and community, is set for Nov. 14-15 at Red Cliffs Adventure Lodge.
The event is presented by Plateau Restoration, a nonprofit organization, as a fundraiser for conservation projects on the Colorado Plateau.
