If you ever thought an icebreaker was nothing more than a snappy intro for that cutie next to you, take a hint from Bob and Nancy Wilson of Grand Junction: An icebreaker is great way to meet all kinds of animals.
The Wilsons, well-respected among local birding circles, spent two weeks this summer aboard the MS Polar Star, a converted Swedish icebreaker now used as an expedition cruise ship to view pelagic birds, polar bears and other wildlife along the coast of Norway and the Arctic.
The Wilsons will share their adventure Monday at the monthly meeting of the Grand Valley Audubon Society.
For those of us who prefer our ice floating in a beverage, the program will offer insights on the creatures living in the one of the world’s harshest climates.

WHAT: An extended wildlife-viewing and photography trip along the coast of Norway and the Arctic.
