A weekend of mountain biking fun, and scenes from the singletrack around Fruita.
The 15th Annual New Belgium Fruita Fat Tire Festival continues through Sunday. Many bike manufacturers are offering demo bikes to take for a spin.

Abby Hippely, a mechanic with Santa Cruz Bicycles, is affectionately known as “The Duchess of Demo.” Here she lends her mechanic skills inside the Santa Cruz van.
“Big Joe” Hendrickson from Evergreen has been with Yeti Cycles since 1993. The company is based in Golden.

Nic DeLauder, from Aptos, Calif., has been with Fox Racing Shox for four years. He spends nine months out of the year traveling the country providing race support and setting up for festivals promoting their line of bike shocks.
The parking area at the Kokopelli Loops Trail area near the I-70 and Loma interchange saw plenty of activity.
Rustler’s Loop, part of the Kokopelli Loops trail area, is perfect for those just beginning to take up mountain biking. The trail has many biking tips dispersed along the singletrack.

For five-year-old Max Godspil from Nederland, this was his first venture on singletrack as the Colorado River looms in the background along Rustler’s Loop.
Horsethief bench is one of the more popular trails at the Kokopelli Loops trail area.
The entry into Horsethief Bench requires traversing a steep, rocky ledge that few can completely ride down.

Wildflowers added a splash of color to the high desert trails west of Fruita.
For Kari Murray, 38, from Salt Lake City, having a chance to ride the trails came compliments of her husband who was back at the parking lot watching over their first child who Kari recently gave birth.
