A snow-covered Mount Garfield is seen from the east end of Colorado National Monument on Tuesday morning. The southwest and central Colorado mountains were expected to get up to 2 feet of new snow out of the latest storm.
The crown of Mount Garfield rises above fog shrouding the Grand Valley, behind the frost-coated branches of a shrub at Redlands Mesa Golf Course.
Snow guns blow fresh man-made powder onto a run at Telluride Ski Resort in this photo from last year. Colorado resorts rely on early season snowmaking to carry them over until natural snow blankets the slopes.

The mansion was constructed in the early 1900’s by Lawrence LaTourette Driggs on 320 acres of land acquired through the Desert Entry Act.The mansion had six rooms that included two bedrooms, one large commons area, kitchen, and a small utility room. A few miles south of Page, Arizona, the Colorado River takes a sharp turn, almost making a full circle. This spot has come to be known as Horseshoe Bend and is one of the more impressive views I have seen. It can be reached by a short 3/4 mile hike on a wide flat trail. Boats can be seen on the river kicking up a white wake.

Monument Valley with US Route 163 looking to Monument Pass.Monument Valley provides perhaps the most enduring and definitive images of the American West. The isolated red mesas and buttes surrounded by empty, sandy desert have been filmed and photographed countless times over the years for movies, adverts and holiday brochures. Because of this, the area may seem quite familiar, even on a first visit, but it is soon evident that the natural colors really are as bright and deep as those in all the pictures.
