Competitors in the Highline Hustle triathlon take to the water in June, 2010, as they swim 500 meters through the water of Highline Lake, the first of three parts of the event. After completing their swim, racers then bicycled 16 miles and ran three miles around the lake. There’s a new triathlon coming to the state park next week.
After swimming 500 meters through the chilly waters of Highline Lake, competitors in the Highline Hustle triathalon in June, 2010, fly down a hill on 10 Road as they pedal 16 miles, the second of three parts of the event. The third leg of the triathlon involved running three miles around the lake.

Nw you see me, now you don’t. Mule deer with their natural camouflage can disappear against most backgrounds, making it difficult for biologists when doing aerial herd counts.
There is a lot of country stretching across the Roan Plateau and the Piceance Basin and wildlife biologists spend countless hours each year flying over this land conducting aerial surveys for deer and elk. Piceance Creek runs lower right to upper left in the photo.

The cross-country skiing at Skyway on Grand Mesa is probably the best in the state right now. The Grand Mesa Nordic Council has been grooming the trails along with help from volunteers to make the trails on Grand Mesa easy to ski.
