Winter is a difficult time for wildlife, even when it seems there isn’t much snow to contend with. Deer and elk can lose 30 percent or more of their body weight during the cold-weather months.

The immediacy of social media means there is no hiding the fact that today’s ski conditions might not be perfect. But the reverse also is true: when conditions are great, everyone learns about it right away.
Ice fishing doesn’t have to be an expensive sport. Anglers can find success with a bit of equipment and lots of opportunity, especially during the many tournaments being held in February.
Palmyra Peak and the hike-to expert ski terrain at Telluride Ski Resort are now open. the new terrain inlcudes the chotes off the peak as well as Black Iron Bowl chutes and those off the Gold Hill and Rendezvous Bowl lifts.
