Experienced freestyle kayakers stick the front of the boat into the descending waters of a wave which flips them over. The waterpark wave changes depending on the varied flows of the river. This hole was perfect for doing a front loop.
A fisherman casts into open water on the edge of the melting ice at Baron Lake on the Grand Mesa recently. Many of the lakes are totally clear of ice, but some, including Island Lake, have ice floating in the water. There is also quite a bit of snow left on top.
Motorcycles kick up a little dust as they head back to the 29 Road desert access point after they made the eight mile trip to the base of the Bookcliffs to climb on Skinny Hill, a popular destination for dirt bikers. The vast BLM area is used year round for ATV and off-road enthusiasts.
