The driver of a GMC Yukon traveling east on U.S. Highway 50 around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday entered the westbound lane of the highway, struck a powder blue convertible, collided with a curb, went airborne and rolled once before coming to the rest in an embankment near the intersection of 32 Road and the highway, according Colorado State Patrol Trooper David Erickson. The two people inside the convertible were not hurt. Passersby helped lift the SUV off the driver, 37-year-old Bonnie Swezey of Whitewater, soon after the accident. Swezey was conscious and had only abrasions and lower back pain following the incident, according to the state patrol.
