The Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 800’s Young Eagles Day was April 28 at Mack Mesa Airport. The Young Eagles program introduces children ages 8–17 to airplanes and aviation by taking them for an airplane ride. Over the last weekend of April, staff at Alpine Hospice put together more than 40 May Day baskets to be delivered to patients, according to Carla Taylor, the hospice’s business office manager, who sent in this photo.

The Palisade Crush U11 baseball team won its division in a tournament in Lakewood in April.
The Fruita Storm 12U baseball team was 6-0 in the USSSA Fort Collins Spring Classic in April. The team beat the Nebraska Bluffs 15-14 in extra innings in the championship game. Players representing the Storm were Austin Bernal, Dylan Brown, Dakota Dunham, Alec Goodrich, Chet Goodrich, Kohl Hagee, Bradyn Heit, Trey Morrill, CJ Parrish, Paul Salazar and Joe Estep. Chukk Parrish is the team manager and the assistant coaches are Justin Hagee, Craig Morrill, Travis Brown and Tex Goodrich.

Jake Miller took third place and Sarah Mahon came in fourth place in Hospice’s texting tournament in April. Miller received $30 and Mahon $20.
Bryce Keever won a texting tournament put on in April as a benefit for the Child & Teen Programs at Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado. Keever holds the $100 he received for his win. Each year, the Child & Teen Programs help more than 600 children dealing with the loss of a loved one, according to Hospice.

Two Destination Imagination teams from Lincoln Elementary School in Delta plan to compete against teams form around the world at the Destination Imagination Global Finals on May 22–27. To send 14 students and their coaches to this event, they need to raise about $1,700 per person. Bob Colony and Bob Hanson were honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards by the Kiwanis Club of Grand Junction on Feb. 16 at the Charter Night Dinner that celebrated the club’s 75th anniversary.
