You Said It, April 12, 2008

Friday, April 11, 2008

It will be very interesting to see how the judges rule on the charges against the assailant in the death of the baby due to the death of her mother in this most recent case. It may well open a whole new can of worms.

It’s a sad day when a “couple of influential parents” can dictate how to run an athletic team. It has happened several times in recent years when great coaches in our high schools have either resigned or been asked to resign because a “couple of parents” want to run the program “their” way. I say, if parents want to coach, they can quit their own jobs and become a coach. Either put up, or shut up!

Concerning farmers burning: I love it and the smell!  It reminds me that spring is here and we can look forward to delicious fresh fruits and vegetables.

I find it absolutely unbelievable that we as a community are debating whether an 8 1/2 month old child is actually a “real person.” Every sane person knows in their heart that the two baby girls who have recently died were human beings. The criminals responsible for the deaths of these two girls need to be held accountable.

To the farmers who think burning their fields every spring is good for the environment: If you really want to help our environment, how about cleaning up all your junk vehicles and farm machinery, trash piles, and rundown buildings that are spoiling my view?

Because of the weak dollar and strong Euro, it takes a lot of dollars, better spent at home, to maintain our troops in Germany and other parts of Europe. Our troops in the Middle East could use some replacements. Since Germany, France and a few other countries constantly work against our interests elsewhere in  the world, it makes sense to me that we remove our troops from Germany and Europe, use them to replace our troops in the Middle East and reinforce the Border Patrol on our southern border.

To the person who claims that earth science classes teach that burning away organic material in fields and vacant lots adds nutrition to the soil: You obviously never took an earth science class. Almost all the burned organic material goes into the atmosphere in the form of smoke. Fires do help forests by reducing excess undergrowth and by opening the seeds of certain species of trees. This is not the case with grass fields and weeded lots.

I would like to thank the very nice gentlemen that bought my lunch for me and my kids at the Clifton McDonalds on Saturday the 5th.

Vice President Cheney is flying to raise funds for a local Republican. Who is paying?

I am a bit concerned about Sen. John McCain’s age and his potential as president. Would not a vote for McCain in reality be a vote for his running mate?

The Senate passed a $20 billion housing bailout, being unfair to everyone who played by the rules and rewarding irresponsibility.
