Tuesday’s off-year election doesn’t have the numerous candidates and ballot issues of a typical general election in Colorado. But there are some important decisions facing local voters. For those who haven’t yet filled out their mail-in ballots or turned them in to the Mesa County Clerk’s Office, we reiterate our endorsements for this year:
YES — on Referred Measures 1A, 1B and 1C, extending to three terms the consecutive terms that someone can serve as Mesa County district attorney, sheriff or coroner.
ROSE FEMIA PUGILESE — for the District E seat on the Mesa County Valley School District 51 Board of Education.
District E is the only contested school board race. Harry Butler has no opponent in his re-election bid for the District C seat, and Leslie Kiesler is unchallenged as she seeks re-election to the District D seat.
Voters who have not yet mailed in their election ballots have until 7 p.m. Tuesday to turn them into the Mesa County Clerk’s Office at one of five locations:
The old Mesa County Courthouse, 544 Rood Ave.;
Mesa Mall, 2424 Highway 6 & 50 - East Wing
Mesa County Fairgrounds, 2785 Highway 50
Clifton Peachtree Shopping Center, 3225 I-70 Business Loop, Unit A2
Fruita Civic Center, 325 E. Aspen.
