2 Air Force Academy grads killed in Kyrgyzstan

COLORADO SPRINGS — Two Air Force Academy graduates were among those killed in the crash of a military tanker refueling plane in Kyrgyzstan last week.

Mark T. Voss and Victoria Pinckney, 2008 academy graduates, were both 27-year-old captains. They were killed along with Sgt. Herman Mackey of Bakersfield, Calif.

The Defense Department said Sunday that all three were assigned to the 93rd Air Refueling Squadron at Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington state.

The Gazette reported that Pinckney leaves a husband and a son. The Palmdale, Calif. native played rugby while studying at the academy. Her parents live in Colorado Springs.

Voss is survived by his parents, Wayne and Marcy Voss, of Boerne (BER’-nee), Texas.
