The wakeup call should be to every politician who supports mandates without funding!  Without being in the schools and seeing what sounds great on paper to be a school district’s responsibility and actually implementing those mandates without funding has created a huge budget deficit for school districts across the state.  It is not the general tax paying citizen who is responsible for the debt.  We need to look no further than elected officials who do not do their homework in supporting these bills but vote for the bills without funding them and expecting individual school districts to foot the bill out of the general fund!

It is difficult to revoke mandates that have been implemented, however each and every one of these mandates needs to be re-assessed and prioritized as to what their value to the school’s actually are and if they should be a the school’s responsibility.
