A welcome deal
The long hoped-for agreement between labor and business leaders finally was approved Thursday. As a result, the labor sponsors of Amendments 53, 55, 56 and 57 agreed to withdraw them. Because ballots have already been printed, the measures will still appear on them, but votes likely won’t be tabulated.
In return, business leaders agreed to actively campaign against three ballot measures that labor unions oppose — Amendments 47, 49 and 54.
Coloradans should thank all of those involved in reaching this agreement. It was desperately needed to prevent the possible passage of ballot measures that would have devastated Colorado’s business climate.
