Area haunted houses offer fright levels for all

Halloween is upon us and what better time to get your scare-o-meter tested? Can you handle the frightening, bloodcurdling, hair-raising, spine-chilling fun that awaits?
Have no fear, there are plenty of haunted houses in the Grand Valley in “witch” boys and ghouls and mummies and daddies can get catch some fright.
Here’s the scoop on the spook:
Edge of Madness Haunted House, 2394 U.S. Highway 6&50 (one block west of Mesa Mall), is open Oct. 22–31 (closed Sunday, Oct. 24 and Wednesday, Oct. 27). Weekday hours are 6–10 p.m. On weekends and Halloween it’s open from 6 p.m. to midnight. Cost is $10 per person. The Mesa State College Drama Society receives the proceeds. Info: 260-5598.
Haunted Acres, 2465 I Road (between 24 1/2 and 25 roads), is open Friday and Saturday, Oct. 22–23, and Thursday through Sunday, Oct. 28–31. Haunted Acres opens each evening at 6:30 with no set closing time. It features 70 actors and going through it takes about 45 minutes. Cost is $8, with children younger than 5 getting in for free. The Partners Haunted House, 3210 Interstate 70 Business Loop (next to Harbor Freight Tools), in Clifton is open from 6–11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 22–23; form 6–10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 27–28; from 6–11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 29–30; and from 6–10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31. Cost is $10 for ages 11 and older, $8 for students with a valid student ID, and $5 for children ages 10 and younger.
Trail of Terror Haunted House, presented by Express All Stars, features 35 rooms at 601 Pitkin Ave. Hours are 6 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, Oct. 22–23; 6–10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Oct. 25–28; 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 29–30; and 2–7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31. Cost is $10 cash.
