Arrest comes in assault, kidnapping of GJ woman
A 37-year-old man has been arrested in the assault and kidnapping of a Grand Junction woman.
Mauro Galindo Soto was arrested Tuesday in a Grand Junction hotel room on suspicion of second-degree kidnapping, first-degree burglary, second-degree assault and menacing in connection with the Aug. 17 incident in the 2100 block of Ouray Avenue, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.
Soto’s arrest affidavit alleges that Soto was with his cousin, Luis Busani-Franco, when Busani-Franc assaulted his ex-girlfriend and dragged her from his car, making Soto an accessory to the act, police spokeswoman Kate Porras said.
Busani-Franco and Soto were believed to have fled to Mexico after the incident, Porras said. Busani-Franco, who is named in an arrest warrant, is believed to still be in Mexico, Porras added.
Soto also was being held in Mesa County Jail on immigration charges.
