Be safe, sign up for hunter course today

The Colorado Division of Wildlife offers a wide range of hunter education courses, including special youth-only instruction. All hunters born on or after Jan. 1, 1949, are required to carry a hunter education card.

That limited license application is due April 5, and you still haven’t earned your hunter safety card.

Don’t panic, the Colorado Division of Wildlife feels your pain.

March is loaded with hunter education classes statewide, making it easy to meet the state’s requirement that all prospective hunters born on or after Jan. 1, 1949, possess a hunter education card.

“Our goal is to make it as convenient as possible for people who need these classes to find one and complete one,” said Mark Cousins, the DOW hunter education coordinator.

You can even take Internet-based courses, although you’ll still need face-time with an instructor and the live-fire part of the course.

Don’t delay, though. That deadline is oh-so-close.
