Bennet supports measure for FAA
U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet, D-Colo., is backing the two-year, $34.6 billion authorization measure for the Federal Aviation Administration.
The measure includes $8 billion for airport-construction grants.
The measure also includes provisions aimed at improving the air-transportation system and reducing delays.
In 2007, the total cost of all U.S. air transportation delays was $32.9 billion, including a $16.7 billion cost to passengers, Bennet said in a statement citing the National Center of Excellence for Aviation Operations Research.
The bill “will help ease stress for travelers by bringing our badly outdated air traffic control system up to date,” Bennet said.
The bill, S. 223, is expected to create and protect 280,000 jobs across the country by investing in airports and improving infrastructure, Bennet said.
