Military salute this morning
A 21-gun salute is planned between 10 and 10:30 a.m. today as part of a military ceremony at First Baptist Church, on the corner of Seventh Street and Grand Avenue, according to police.
They say residents in the area can expect to hear three volleys of shots being fired back-to-back at some point during that designated time.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
■ A known male juvenile stole a bicycle valued at $150 on Oct. 19. The bike was recovered, with damage totaling $150.
■ Damage to a vehicle in the parking lot of Canyon View Park on Feb. 4 is estimated at more than $1,000.
■ Ricky Martinez, 50, is accused of violating a protection order near the 600 block of South Avenue on Thursday.
■ Tonja Vasquez, 40, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of DUI, careless driving, failure to report an accident and driving with a suspended license.
■ Items valued at less than $500 were stolen from a vehicle near the 500 block of Melody Lane on Friday.
■ A burglar entered the residence at 2812 1/2 Columbine Park Court on Feb. 5, causing less than $500 in damage and removing items valued at less than $500.
■ Forrest Nash, 25, Clifton, is accused of shoplifting from 2424 U.S. Highway 6&50 on Friday.
■ Carole McBurney, 43, of Montrose, and Suzanne Duncan, 48, of Grand Junction, are accused of stealing merchandise from 636 Market St. on Friday.
■ Property was damaged at a business in the 600 block of Main Street on Friday, causing a loss of more than $1,000.
