Deputies giving out Halloween treats
• Mesa County Sheriff’s Department deputies in the street crime program will give out candy from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 at Kimwood Park, Clifton Village South Park, Coronado Park and Lynwood Park. For information, call 244-3929.
KSTAR car-bashing fundraiser today
• KSTAR radio will have its Bash the Bull charity event for the Breast Cancer Foundation from 7 to 10 a.m. today at Modern Classic Motors, 975 Independent Ave. Donations of $1 will buy a chance to bash a car. For information, call 245-7671.
Church’s clothing giveaway Nov. 6-8
• Grand Junction Church of Christ will give clothes to the community during its annual clothing giveaway. Donations of usable clothing will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2893 Patterson Road through Oct. 31. The giveaway will take place Nov. 6-8. For information, call 245-4210.
Two Head Start programs certified
• Rocky Mountain SER Head Start and Migrant Head Start Family Service Workers received credentials from Cornell University for the completion of the Family Development Credential Program. The program teaches skills of strength-based support for families.
Individuals who received the credentials include Karen Melott, Sarah Dawes, Delores Servin, Denise Salazar, Reona Beltran, Beatrice Vigil, Sara Luque, Terry Hocking, Norman Lopez and Laine Garrison.
