Gray Gourmet seeks delivery volunteers

• Gray Gourmet is seeking volunteers to deliver meals to homebound seniors in the Grand Junction and Palisade area. Deliveries are made between 10:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. weekdays. Mileage reimbursement is available. For information, call 243-9844.

Whitewater resident wins scholarship

• Chandra Thompson of Whitewater is the recipient of The Oren Root Prize Scholarship at Hamilton College. Thompson is a graduate of Gateway School and the daughter of Luther and Mary Thompson. The scholarship is awarded to those with exceptional mathematic records.

Volunteers to build bike trail needed

• The Bureau of Land Management is seeking volunteers to build a new mountain biking trail at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 4 in the Kokopelli Loops area. The trail is part of National Public Lands Day and is sponsored by the Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Association, Friends of McInnis Canyons and the Grand Junction Field Office. There will be a barbecue, snacks, T-shirts and gifts for hard workers.
Take a lunch, water, work gloves, sunscreen and bug repellent. For information, call 244-3029.

Chorus plans guest night for singers

• The Bookcliff Barbershop Harmony chorus will have a guest night for interested singers at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Holy Family School. Men of all ages are welcome. Guests are encouraged to stop by practice throughout the month of October. For information, call 261-3850 or visit

Carbondale student admitted to Bryant

• Zachary Shultz of Carbondale has been accepted to Bryant University in Rhode Island as a business administration student.
