er Briefs: OA Chanukah on Ice Decemb26, 2008

What an ice breaker talking about Chanukah can be.

Join members of Tikvat Yisrael for the Chanukah on Ice event at the Glacier Ice Arena from 12:30–2:20 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28. Anyone is invited to participate in the games, skating and chance to win prizes.

“It will be geared a lot to kids, but will also be a nice time for the adults to skate to Chanukah music,” said Cynthia Lebowitz, event organizer.

Just like last year, there will be someone dressed as a life-size dreidel.

Games include playing dreidel on ice and a Chanukah trivia game with clues hidden around the arena. There will also be a lighting of the menorah celebration, as Sunday is the last day of Chanukah.

A crowd favorite last year was skating to the song “Light One Candle” by Peter Yarrow while holding glow sticks, Lebowitz said.

“There’s a lot of people who celebrate Chanukah and it’s nice to bring everybody together from various surrounding areas,” Lebowitz said.
