Camp sites in state parks filling up for July 4
DENVER — Camp sites in Colorado state parks are filling up quickly for the Fourth of July weekend.
In fact, all 4,100 sites are reserved for Saturday. The Colorado State Parks Department says spaces are still available for Friday and Sunday of the holiday weekend.
Reservations can be made three days before arrival. It’s first come, first served after that.
Events and activities are on tap at the 42 state parks, including a bike parade at Highline Lake State Park in the Grand Junction area and a mystery hike at Cheyenne Mountain State park in Colorado Springs.
Colorado’s state parks draw about 11 million visitors yearly and encompass 242,531 acres of land and water.
