Capco Inc. lands Navy contract

A Grand Junction company has landed a contract to manufacture bomb fins for the U.S. Navy, the federal government said Thursday.

Capco Inc. has manufactured the same product under previous contracts, a spokesman for the privately held company said Thursday. In all, the contract calls for the company at 1328 Winters Ave., to produce 10,865 units for $11 million.

The Army also can exercise an option for an additional 50 percent of the original order.

Capco has several people who have experience with the contract, so the spokesman said it’s unclear whether any new employees will be brought on to complete the contract.

Capco manufactured the same items from 2003 to 2009, and the estimated completion date on the current contract is April 12, 2012.
