Cedaredge beats Hotchkiss, heads to 1A state championship
No. 3 seed Cedaredge, with its 16-12 win on Saturday at No. 10 Hotchkiss, will go for its first state championship win next weekend at No. 1 Buena Vista, likely on Saturday.
Cedaredge junior quarterback Trent Walker, starting in place of Dante Markley — who was not cleared to play due to post-concussion symptoms — completed a pair of 2-point conversion passes to Cade Wasser. Hotchkiss (9-3) did not score on its two 2-point conversions.
Carter Wasser finished with 25 carries for 100 yards and two rushing touchdowns for Cedaredge (11-1), which took a 16-12 lead late in the third quarter on Wasser’s 2-yard run.
Cedaredge held Hotchkiss running back Jacobe Galley to 69 yards rushing.
