Centennial Band concert will have Colorado National Monument as backdrop

The setting sun and the red rocks of the Colorado National Monument will provide a perfect outdoor stage and lighting for the Centennial Band’s Music on the Monument concert.

Patriotic songs, ballads, trumpet and vocal soloists, pastoral pieces, American standards and more will be presented during the free concert at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 23, at the Devil’s Kitchen Amphitheater.

Parking is not available at the site, so concert attendees should park at Wingate Elementary School, 351 S. Camp Road. A free shuttle service will provide rides to the concert. Buses will run every 10 minutes beginning at 4:45 p.m. Those needing handicapped accessible parking should call the 858-3617, ext 364, prior to the event.

The concert is free, however, those who donate $5 or more will receive a Centennial pin from the Colorado National Monument Association.

Bring lawn chairs and a picnic. Door prizes will be given away during intermission.

Call 858-3617, ext. 360, for more information.
