State tournament brackets released

The Grand Junction High School boys basketball team has received a No. 4 seed and a first-round bye in the Class 5A state basketball tournament.

The Tigers will host either Fort Collins or Rock Canyon on March 2.

The Grand Junction girls received a No. 6 seed and host Mountain Range in the first round Tuesday. SWL champion Fruita Monument receiving a first-round bye as the No. 4 seed in its region.

In Class 4A, the Palisade boys are a No. 5 seed and host Wheat Ridge on Wednesday. Rifle hosts Montrose and Durango hosts Pueblo Central. Steamboat Springs travels to Golden, Erie is at Eagle Valley and Glenwood Springs is at Greeley Central.

Palisade’s girls play Tuesday at Denver South, with the Rifle girls hosting Thomas Jefferson, Durango going to Pueblo East and Steamboat Springs at Green Mountain. Glenwood Springs hosts Harrison. Delta received a first-round bye as the No. 4 seed and plays at home Friday against the winner of the Longmont-Vista Peak game. Montrose is a No. 2 seed and is off Tuesday, hosting either Pueblo East or Durango on Friday.
