City hires new vendor for public golf courses
Grand Junction City Council members were pleased to usher in a new food and beverage vendor for two city golf courses. Two Miles. LLP, run by Miles Blackford, the chef at Dream Cafe, was approved as the contractor for the Tiara Rado Golf Course and the Lincoln Park Golf Course.
“I’m really glad we’re going back to the private sector,” Council member Gregg Palmer said. “It should have been there all along and I wish them luck.”
Two Miles was the recommendation from a committee of golfers, a representative from the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and several city employees. Two Miles won the group’s recommendation over Jeanne Carver, LLC..
City council members were upset after the city-owned Two Rivers Convention Center had previously been allowed to enter into a bidding process when a contract was up for Pinon Grill, the restaurant at Tiara Rado.
The city is purchasing one new beverage cart for each golf course and the new vendor will focus on golfers’ needs before banquets or other large parties. Blackford said he will serve pizzas and sub sandwiches at Lincoln Park and offer a full menu at Tiara Rado.
