Coffee shop to offer online ordering

Customers will soon have a new way to get their brew at Coffee Muggers, 644 Main St.

The coffee shop is working with Splick-It to provide online menu ordering. Splick-It is a nearly 2-year-old company that provides ordering services for a variety of cafes, coffee shops and restaurants nationwide.

When the technology launches in the next couple months — an exact launch date isn’t set — customers will be able to visit http://www.splickit.com to place a coffee order or send an order via text message to a Blackberry at Coffee Muggers. The menu will start out with 10 items, including coffee, tea, lattes and espresso drinks, but Coffee Muggers co-owner Jen Ruppe said she hopes to eventually include her entire menu on Splick-It.

Employees will take the order and have it hot and ready to pick up when the customer arrives. Splick-It keeps a tab of orders and won’t bill a customer until their tab reaches $8. A 25-cent user fee is charged for each order.

Ruppe said she met the Splick-It people at a coffee convention in Las Vegas this year and decided to try it out. “Texting an order and knowing it’s already paid for” attracted her to the company, she said, adding, “It’s just so simple.”
