County buys land on mesa for roadwork

Mesa County commissioners on Monday agreed to spend more than $70,000 to acquire portions of three pieces of property for a road-improvement project in Molina on Grand Mesa.

The county agreed to buy a total of 3.38 acres for $72,579.

County officials say they need the land to improve the sight distance and safety of 54.7 and KK roads and the intersection of those two roads.

In other business, commissioners signed off on an agreement with the U.S. Forest Service that will pay the county a little more than $5,600 for the Sheriff’s Department to patrol several Forest Service roads, campgrounds and recreation areas on Grand Mesa and Glade Park.
