Denver mayor backs off plan to restrict cameras, recorders

DENVER — Denver Mayor Michael Hancock’s administration has backed off a plan to bar cameras and recording devices from background briefings.

Communications director Wil Alston says he thought the press would appreciate talking to Hancock in a less formal setting.

Alston tells the Denver Post the policy was changed after he talked to reporters who objected to the rule.
