Dixieland jazz coming to Avalon Theatre on Jan. 9

The Denver-based Queen City Jazz Band will bring a night of New Orleans-style Dixieland jazz to Avalon Theatre, on Saturday, Jan. 9.

Queen City Jazz Band originated in Denver more than 50 years ago and has toured the nation, as well as the Caribbean, Holland and Switzerland. The band plays jazz classics, adding its own twist, while still respecting the style of the original music.

Local musicians will join the band for some improv at the concert, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the theatre, 645 Main St.

The concert is presented by The Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students. They can be purchased at the symphony office in the Alpine Bank Building or online at http://www.gjsymphony.org.
