DUI suspected; 10-year-old girl riding in vehicle

A Grand Junction man was arrested Sunday morning fon suspicion of driving drunk with a child in his vehicle.

Gilbert Daniel Stanley, 28, was arrested at 1:03 a.m. Sunday on a slew of suspected offenses, according to his arrest affidavit with the Grand Junction Police Department.

Sgt. Jim Creasy said Stanley was reportedly driving 70 mph on North Avenue where the posted speed limit is 35 mph. When an officer pulled Stanley over, Stanley became combative and swung at the arresting officer, the affidavit alleged. Stanley, whose 10-year-old daughter was with him at the time, had to be Tased, Creasy said.

Creasy said Stanley was arrested on suspicion of DUI and simple child abuse, along with obstructing an officer, speeding and reckless endangerment.

Stanley also is suspected of driving with a revoked license and driving as an habitual DUI offender, a felony, Creasy said.
