Stricter rules needed
to protect Colorado

The ongoing spill in the Gulf of Mexico is another example of the oil and gas industry’s disregard for the hazards of drilling and the industry’s tendency to take cost- and time-saving shortcuts that endanger workers and the environment.

It also highlights the industry’s refusal to require its members to use best (safest and least polluting) management practices.

Stricter government rules are still needed in Colorado, with higher fines to pay for better inspection and enforcement to ensure protection of nearby residents, water sources and air that is safe to breathe.

Rules that eliminate undercapitalized, unsafe or highly polluting drilling operations need to be enacted for the long-term benefit of the oil and gas industry itself, as well as for the health and safety of Coloradans.

Bob McConnell will
‘walk the walk’ in office

Do you have good reason to wonder where your candidate really stands on the issues? In this world of “politically correct” politics are we not often fooled by deceptive rhetoric? Don’t many politicians often “talk the talk” but fail to “walk the walk” once they get in office? Isn’t it time we voters insist that candidates be concise and accurate in what they really stand for?

Isn’t the lack of leadership in federal government today, proof positive that we have been hoodwinked? Considering the sad state of our nation, aren’t the next elections the most important in world history?

Those of us in the 3rd Congressional District are fortunate to have Bob McConnell running to replace John Salazar. First of all, the man is not a politician. He’s a retired Airborne Ranger colonel with proven leadership experience, a patriotic love of country and a strong desire to serve, we the people.
Bob wants all his positions known and well defined because that is his leadership style. Here is a sampling of his stand of a few key issues taken from his website:

“Protecting Our Homeland — I believe protecting our homeland is the most important responsibility we, the people, entrust to the federal government.”

“Free Markets — I believe our free markets are the greatest engine for economic prosperity in the history of the world.”

“Taxes — I believe we pay too much in taxes.”

“Immigration and Secure Borders — Legal immigration, and the full integration of legal immigrants into our society, has been the life-blood of our great nation for over two hundred years.”
“Health Care — I believe small steps in the right direction are better than big steps in the wrong direction.”

“1st Amendment — I will always defend your right to speak your mind.”

“2nd Amendment — I am a strong supporter of our 2nd Amendment rights.”

To see the rest go to bobmcconnellforcongress.com. If you have a question, ask him. What you see is what you get with McConnell!
