Edible marijuana changes getting vote in Colo.

DENVER — Colorado’s rules for edible marijuana could be changing under a proposal up for a vote in a House committee.

The House Judiciary planned to vote on edible marijuana changes today. Lawmakers appear unlikely to ban edible marijuana completely, but they may consider new labeling requirements or other safeguards to make sure edible marijuana is not accidentally consumed by minors.

State regulators are nearing a decision on new labeling and production rules for edible marijuana products such as cannabis brownies. A bill adopted by lawmakers would put those requirements into law.

Lawmakers have heard many hours of testimony so far this session from marijuana advocates who oppose what they consider a state crackdown on a drug approved by voters for medicinal use.
