President responsible for sequester problems

If you don’t like problems caused by sequester, guess whose idea it was. His initials are B.O.

Donate to Shriners but boycott inhumane circus

Yet again, the animal circus is coming to the Western Slope. I ask everyone not to support it. There’s information online, so I won’t go into details of the plight of circus animals. Undercover videos and statements by animal trainers themselves tell the story.

The Western Slope Shriners groups sponsor the circus as a fundraiser. I appreciate their efforts for the children’s hospitals, but there are ways to raise funds that don’t teach children it’s OK to abuse and exploit intelligent animals in the name of entertainment/profit.

Many fundraising Shriners groups never support the circus. Cities, states and countries planet-wide are banning exotic animal circuses because the public is becoming aware of the horrors they really contain.

I ask everyone to donate to the Shriners with a note expressing that the circus is not needed or wanted. Send donations to your local Shriners or to Montrose Masons/Shriners; P.O. Box 183; Montrose, CO 81402.

Animal circuses should be a thing of the past.

Abortions reflect gutter morality in America

Whether for or against abortion, anyone with conscience should be shocked that all charges have been dropped against Dr. Gosnell.  Babies born live had scissors shoved through their necks, and one woman died.  Body parts were found all over the clinic — even in pipe drains.

This is simply a horror story that will now be swept under the rug again as President Obama gives a speech to Planned Parenthood today.  Please, folks, wake up!  Evil in America is doing its dirty business every day while innocents have to suffer the consequences.

Our administration is soft on terror. Obama’s middle name might be a good clue to that.  How long are we going to put up with gutter morality and values or a mainstream media that will not tell the truth?  Isn’t it time to stand up and call a spade a spade regarding our anything goes, socialist government in Washington D.C.?

Money elects representatives and presidents; we don’t.  It will get worse when we have no defense against a monster government whose agenda is to make us slaves and put one world government in place via the United Nations. This is the hidden truth.

Early education program works wonders for kids

On April 19 members of the Early Education department of School District 51 held a fundraiser at the Texas Roadhouse. It was a smashing success, with more than 735 tickets sold.

I would like to thank Brandon and Mike at Texas Roadhouse for their incredible support of this community by hosting these large fundraisers. We also give our thanks to the helpful and cheerful restaurant staff and to City Market for donating dessert.

The hard work of more than 100 parents, teachers and staff members who volunteered for the fundraiser is a direct reflection of the dedication we all have to the Early Education program. I can never adequately express our gratitude for what the program has done for our son.

The other day I watched our teacher comfort a boy overcome with frustration. As she hugged him and gently guided him back to his task, I teared up, thinking of the countless times she helped my little guy understand and navigate a world that used to be so confusing and overwhelming to him.

The final thank-yous of this letter go to the amazing staff of the Early Education program who unlock the potential of our kids and let them blossom.

His proper initials are BHO! Never forget the H!

Dave Brown did you blame George Bush for the Iraq war, Katrina and the subsequent response, the deficits from not having the Iraq war and Medicare Part D as part of the budget? Let’s face it, pointing the finger at any one part of the national government leaves three fingers pointing at the real problem.
