Kennedy and Thurlow race should prove interesting

I read with great interest the letter to the editor from Chis Kennedy, the Democratic candidate for HD55 who is running against Republican candidate Dan Thurlow. I personally do not know Mr. Kennedy, but from his letter he is a decent fellow. I have met Dan Thurlow and have a high opinion of him.

For the record, I am a registered Republican but a very independent voter. It appears that these two gentlemen will have an interesting race and it sounds like they can be rivals without personal attacks. It sounds like they can discuss the issues and the reasons why each should be elected. I will be watching and reading for as much information on this race as possible and I hope people of both parties will keep an open mind and vote with their conscience rather than their ideology.

Also important to research and promote men’s contraception

I am intrigued by the hoopla about Hobby Lobby and other businesses attempting to avoid covering certain contraceptives based on their religious convictions. What intrigues me is not what is argued or written, but the clear bias that no one seems to address. Why are we not researching and promoting men’s contraception? Condom use is centuries old but the technology remains basically unchanged. Society bias has it that because women carry a baby, they are in charge of ‘their’ health and contraception. What about promoting something that makes sperm nonviable by taking a daily pill or having a contraceptive depot in the shoulder?

If men and women were responsibly choosing contraceptive choices, my guess is that unwanted
pregnancies would decrease substantially. As we all know, the most effective way to prevent a pregnancy is for both parties involved to each hold a birth control pill between their knees.

Peterson Plumbing does good job, but is out to make a profit

Peterson Plumbing is everything you stated in the Sunday article. We have been with Peterson Partners for several years and they have kept our plumbing, heating, and cooling systems running perfectly.

However, they will overcharge for everything and push unnecessary repairs at every opportunity. If a customer is so stupid and uniformed as to buy into their business plan, then they had best go elsewhere for plumbing repairs. Unlike the non-profits out there in what remains of America, Peterson Plumbing is out to make a profit and I commend that effort.

If you want a touchy, feely good plumber, Peterson won’t work for you. If you want your entire household mechanical system to work flawlessly, become a Peterson Partner and pay attention when your chosen tech pushes stuff you don’t need. It’s all part of the game. If you get fleeced, oh well, that is what non-attention will get for you.

We will remain with Peterson Partners because they do a good job. Do they need to be watched? Yes. Doesn’t everybody?

Reader thanks anonymous donor for gift of dance lessons

I wish you could have seen their excitement as we collected their leotards, tights and shoes, then their nervousness as their first dance lesson approached. I wish you could have seen their thrill at getting to wear make-up for their first performance, and their agony as I attempted to apply the mascara. Were you at the recitals? They were beautiful children with the glow of accomplishment on their faces after their performances. Two of those children were mine. As the year progressed, so did their skill. I wish you could have seen our living room transformed into our own rehearsal studio and the private performances for family. Most of all I wish you could have seen the look in their Daddy’s eyes as he admired his two dancing princesses.

It has been such a blessing this past year to see Katherine and Jane grow in confidence, grace and poise as a result of their ballet lessons. Not only has the experience enhanced their lives; it has increased our entire family’s appreciation for the beauty and skill of dance.

And for all of that, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to you, the anonymous donor, for giving to our community in such a way that shared your passion for dance, benefited a local business, fulfilled the wishes of two little girls, and enhanced an entire family’s appreciation of art.

Even if this letter does not reach you, I hope your example serves as inspiration to others to invest as generously and wisely in our wonderful local arts community!

Obama’s immigration proclamation calls for impeachment

Now Obama says that he is going to “fix immigration without Congress.” Where does it end? Impeach him. Look at Arizona and Texas now. I used to work on the southern border and it’s not the American paradise we all love. It’s dangerous and dirty and filled with non-citizens. We don’t go to their country and expect them to take care of us. Why is that?

Smith will fight for the cause of liberty in education

Gardner is right on. We need to stand up for liberty.

I will be going forward to fight the cause of liberty in our lives, especially for education. You need someone who knows what is going on and how to make changes.

Thank you for supporting me in my bid for State Board of Education. We put the incumbent on notice. If elected we will hold her feet to the fire against common core. Thanks to the 3rd CDs support, she only got 52% and should have gotten 75%. So she knows we are watching her. She is in big trouble come November.

Remember that any Republican is better than any Democrat.

There is a Democrat running for the State Board who is against common core so there is hope to dominate the Board with anti-common core members. Awesome.

I am putting my support behind Bob for Governor and Cory for Senator and other local candidates. They will fight Common Core and other education issues.

Scott has been a huge help with his latest bill. Hats off to Scott. I will be holding educational workshops and fundraisers to fight common core so if there are any of you out there who would like to help please email me or call at 720-299-7025.

Let’s continue to reclaim education. Support Dr. Barbara Ann Smith in her endeavors to fight the federal government and unions. They are killing our liberty.
