Yes on 103 and 3B for a better economy
I am writing to urge all in our community to vote “Yes” for both Proposition 103 and Referred Measure 3B in support of increased funding for education. I believe that one of the most important pillars of the foundation of a great
nation is a well informed population. Rational, well informed decisions cannot be made without good information and good information is provided by a good educational system. We cannot have a good educational system without
proper funding which we are currently lacking.
We are currently witnessing the fall of our nation as a world leader. There are many reasons for this decline but I believe one of the reasons is that our citizens do not enjoy the same opportunities for a high quality education as do citizens in other nations. Good education leads to good jobs and good jobs lead to a strong economy so whether you have children or not, it is in all of our best interst to vote “yes” to increase funding for education both locally and
Vote ‘Yes’ on 2B to ban dispensaries
Recently, a television news story featured an interview with a medical marijuana patient. As a resident of Palisade, her marijuana prescription is filled at the Palisade dispensary. So, if the dispensary were to close, does this mean she will lose her access to medical marijuana? No.
Colorado Amendment 20, passed in 2000, legalized small quantities of marijuana for seriously ill patients. The Amendment allows qualified patients to grow 6 marijuana plants, or to have a medical care-giver grow the plants for the patient.
Consequently, If the Palisade Marijuana dispensary were to close today, patients will grow marijuana plants for themselves or have care-givers grow the plants for them, tomorrow. Furthermore, when marijuana is carried outside the dispensary, there is no accounting for it.
It is my opinion that the welfare of our children and youth, and the future of our valley are more important than a simple convenience for a few. May I remind you of a statement made by Mesa County Sheriff, Stan Hilkey on October 19, 2011: “I have no interest in perpetuating the fraud that has been done to this state by continuing to support dispensaries ... I think we should vote to ban the dispensary in Palisade.”
Please vote “Yes” on 2B to ban marijuana shops from Palisade.
