Sentinel should not use immigration’ regarding ‘illegal immigration’

The Daily Sentinel headline Aug. 18 is misleading and indicative of why the illegal alien debate is constantly skewed towards a political vernacular instead of simply enforcing the Law.

The phrase “Arizona Immigration Law” is misleading. The heat and passion on this is decidedly not about immigration.

Immigration is legal. The voter’s anger is about illegal entry into our nation; illegal residence in our nation; illegal employment in our nation; and, illegally obtaining to benefits from local, state and federal governments reserved by law unto American citizens. Stop using the term “immigration” in your writing when the correct term is “illegal.”

Flood of illegal immigrants could be considered an invasion

The Constitutional cite used by Robert Burkholder in his Aug. 8 letter also says that, “Congress has power to … use the militia to repel invasions.” (Not the exact wording, but essentially the same meaning).  I, and most I know, feel it is becoming farther and farther past the time when our

government should have exercised these powers, if necessary, to protect our sovereign right to secure our borders.

A few dozen, perhaps, deliberately breaking our laws and sneaking into our country, for whatever excuses and a very few reasons, might be individually, but usually erroneously, accepted as “illegal immigrants” (oxymoron, of course), but tens of millions of people, systematically flooding into our country, or any country, must be honestly recognized by reasonable people as an invasion.

For most of two generations, now, every president and every Congress, has routinely ignored this growing invasion and the intent of our Constitution which assigns them duty to deal with such matters. By ignoring and/or delaying any appropriate action they have allowed the resulting social, political, and economic problems to grow to international proportations.

We might open a good dictionary and research the meanings of such words as “invasion” and, perhaps, “traitor” then consider in our own minds, any possible relationship to conditions discussed above.
