FBI confirms investigation at incubator

Normally, the FBI won’t confirm it’s in the middle of an investigation, much less say what that investigation is about.

But because enough people witnessed federal agents going into a business at the Business Incubator Center on Orchard Mesa, they made an exception.

Any details beyond that, however, the FBI won’t provide.

“A court-ordered search warrant was executed at a business in that area on Wednesday by the FBI and other law enforcement agencies,” FBI spokesman Dave Joly said Friday. “This is an ongoing investigation, so we’re not commenting any further. We’re gathering more information regarding an investigation that we’re conducting. No arrests were made.”

He said the only reason the FBI is saying anything now is because the media found out about the investigation. Joly wouldn’t say if the investigation was a local one or part of a statewide or national probe.

“I wish I could be more forthcoming,” he said. “We don’t want to put anybody out on a limb there when our investigation’s not complete, and show blame or guilt or anything like that.”
