Fired officer posts bond on sexual assault charge
Former Grand Junction police officer Glenn Coyne walked out of Mesa County Jail on Saturday evening after putting up more than $25,000 in cash or credit.
Coyne, who was fired Thursday night from the Grand Junction Police Department after being arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman and committing first-degree burglary, posted bond through a bail bondsman. To do so, he would have had to pay 10 to 12 percent of his $250,000 bond to the bondsman.
Coyne was arrested after a woman said the former officer sexually assaulted her at her home after he got off duty at 1 a.m. on Tuesday. Coyne had responded to a call at the woman’s home Sunday after she reported having trouble with her 16-year-old son, police said.
