It is high time professional educators step up and challenge bills and legislators who pass these bills without funding!  This is exactly why school districts are struggling to meet budgets and making cuts that affect the majority of students for the benefit of a minimum!

Many of these bills are “well-intended” and most should be left to the professionals to deal with as districts assess their strengths and weaknesses!

Bill HB1238 is a perfect example of bills past and present that get passed and then find “grant” money which eventually disappears and districts are left holding the bag to fund them!  In this case 4 million dollars!  Are you kidding me?  To be effective it would take 10 times that amount “statewide” to fund the bill and that leaves out funding for accountability and assessment…...besides who is going to do that?  More administrators or legislators who know nothing about education and have spent no time in the classroom other than k-12 attendance as a student…..Oh yea….that makes everybody an expert?
