Four suspected illegal immigrants accused in meth distribution

Four suspected illegal immigrants have been arrested for allegedly distributing methamphetamine, and an investigation is continuing in other parts of Colorado in connection with the case.

Crispin Montoya-Alvarez, Israel Perez-Vencez, Mariano Estrada-Sanchez and Rogelio Sanchez-Villalobos were all advised Friday they could be charged with distribution of a controlled substance.

Sanchez-Villalobos could also be charged with money laundering.

The ages and hometowns of the suspects were not available.

The men appeared with an interpreter before Mesa County Judge Bruce Raaum, who ordered them held on $150,000 bond each.

Many of the details about the arrests are unknown because Raaum has sealed the arrest affidavits. District Attorney Pete Hautzinger said the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Western Colorado Joint Drug Task Force, which arrested the men, is working with law-enforcement agencies elsewhere in the state.

Hautzinger said the men are believed to have distributed “pounds” of meth.

Prosecutors are expected to file charges next Friday.
